Ever had issues adding a podcast to the latest generation of iPod shuffle? I surely had problems. Everything seemed to sync fine, but the problem was:
1. I didn’t realize I had to use and switch between different playlists, rather than just dragging and dropping the stuff I want to listen to (in contrast to my iPod shuffle gen 2). See Apple support doc here.
2. I couldn’t use the controls fully. You can hold the voiceover button to change playlist, oh what a n00b mistake not to know of. Tutorial is found here.
Hope this helps some poor fool out there!

repent. the end is near.
and anyway, you are worthless as a tech blogger, so maybe some little church needs someone to cut their grass or something.

Hold down the voiceover button to hear all the stuff that mysteriously disappeared after you were sure you uploaded it.
