Stand Out By Blending It In

Recommended link at bottom. Don’t cheat. ;)

An article I read today said that only 15 or so percent of Swedish teenagers considers themselves tech-lovers. Whether or not this is a low number, or even an accurate estimation, I can’t say. And do kids these days really want to call themselves tech-lovers? Doesn’t that sound way too geeky?

Not that I personally have anything against geeks. Hell, most people would probably say I am one. But are tech-lovers and geeks really one and the same? There was a time when I would’ve almost said yes, but certainly not now.

It is fairly obvious why people (the regular ones, not me) aren’t tech-lovers these days. Technology, most of all computers, are commonly known as advanced and complicated machinery. To love computing, you really need to be into the whole technical part. You’ve got to be a geek. Right?

Well, no.

This is where Apple enters the picture. (I bet you didn’t see that one coming, did you?) Apple strive to make things extraordinary in the sense that they are so simple and… ordinary, that they become a part of your everyday life. They design hardware to stand out, and user experience to blend in.

I guess all I’m trying to say is that everyone can use and enjoy a Mac. While it’s use may not bring more geeks, it is certain to turn more people into happy and tech-loving enthusiasts. Here’s living proof.
