Believe it or not, I was a student once. Throughout high school, I used my home desktop computer as well as my laptop for all my schooling needs; both PCs. When I went off to college, I finally had the money I needed to buy my precious MacBook, the computer that changed my life forever. I was introduced to the magical experience of Apple, and can now clearly see why a Mac is the best choice for students around the globe.

And apparently, I’m not the only one discovering this. TwinCities.com reports that more and more students are choosing Macs to accompany them to colleges and universities in the US. We’re glad to see that more than half of all freshmen at Darthmouth College this year are Mac owners. And Wilkes University is doing the right thing; switching their entire campus network of 1,700 computers, to Macs.

But let’s get into details. There are a lot of reasons why students would choose Macs instead of PCs, and most of these reasons apply to other people as well. The question we should be asking ourselves are; why use a PC? That’s a tough one. The only decent reason as far as I can see is that some universities sadly have a deep rooted PC “culture”, for lack of a better word.

Otherwise, Mac is definitely the way to go. Students often don’t want to spend their days in front of a computer. Macs are simple, which means they are fast. With QuickSilver, you’ve got the fastest navigation and application starting possible. No need to click a start button here, just type it and you’re there. Furthermore, Mac OS X has that smooth feeling that no Windows OS will ever have.

And then you get the whole iPod integration experience that is so amazing. Add to that an iPhone and you’ve got a complete set of the most wonderful gadgets ever made. You know, I could go on and on about why you should buy a Mac but this is getting off topic so I’ll stop right here by saying that if you’re a student, then Mac is most definitely your best bet. Hell, it’s not even a bet; it’s guaranteed satisfaction and even statistics are backing me up this time.
