The Inquirer: Apple Lost Its Opportunity

“APPLE lost its opportunity to steal a huge chunk of market share from Microsoft because it was too obsessed with producing entertainment gadgets like the Iphond.

Randall Stross, a professor of business at San Jose State University wrote in the New York Times that Jobs’ Mob had an opportunity to give Microsoft a really good kicking as it struggled to get anyone to use its Vista operating system.”

Wow, that was some fascinating fiction The Inquirer put together there. First of all, Apple is a team sport. Steve Jobs said so himself when returning to Apple in ‘97. This means Apple would have lost their opportunity to steal market share from Microsoft. Fortunately, that’s not true either.

The race is not over. In fact, it hasn’t even begun. Maybe it slipped Mr. Stross’s mind that Apple will most likely release their new Leopard operating system in October, that will kick Vistas ass back to the stone age. And I’m saying that with huge confidence; there’s no doubt Leopard is going to outperform Windows Vista. Why would Apple compete with Vista by marketing Mac OS 10.4.x when they’ve got a vast improvement on the assembly line?

And the so called “Iphond” is very much a core product of Apple. This month, and the month before, was it’s time in the spotlight. It was the right time for a product line update, as simple as that. Next month, it will be the right time to release a fantastic new operating system and begin taking on Microsoft’s market share. Rest assured, Apple know what they are doing.

Everything has it’s time.
