Major Event On September 5th

We’ve heard rumors about the release of a new iPod at Apple Expo in late September. Now it seems like Apple is going to break the news even sooner; the new date is September 5th. This is pretty odd since it’s a Wednesday - Apple normally release their products on Tuesdays. However, arstechnica.com seems to confide in this information which they say is provided by sources within Apple.

As mentioned in an earlier post, we’re most likely going to see four new iPod models. The majority of these will feature NAND-flash memory and OS X derivates, and sources of AppleInsider have also sighted full-screen iPods. arstechnica.com speculates whether or not we will see both full-screen and click-wheel video iPods, which certainly sounds like a possibility since we’re already pretty sure that the Nano will retain it’s click-wheel functionality.

Most interesting is what arstechnica.com’s sources are saying about the actual event. Apparently, they’re implying that this will not just be a regular Apple event (if such exists.) They’re saying it’s going to be a wow-level event, which makes us even more anxious to speculate.

Well, I’m excited. The rumors seem never-ending and I wonder what’s true and what’s not. September will be interesting to say the least.
