iPhone Officially Unlocked

iphone_unlocked.jpgThe time has come, Apple’s iPhone is officially unlocked. iPhoneSIMfree.com has produced a piece of software that unlocks the phone and allows use with foreign and non-AT&T service providers. Engadget confirms these news by reviewing the software and providing further details.

Engadget reports that the process takes only a couple of minutes and that it was “totally painless”. After unlocking and reactivating the phone, it was immediately working with their T-Mobile SIM-card. Everything from SMS to internet was working fine, except for visual voicemail which they say “isn’t in the cards.” The solution is even upgrade/restore resistant, at least for now.

But if you want to have your iPhone unlocked, you’ll have to pay for it. The software isn’t yet for sale but according to the website, they’ll begin offering it next week. As for the price tag, we’ll have to wait a few days to find out.
