Brief photo description

Launching MyMacDesk.com

If you’re hanging out at any of the Mac forums out there, you have probably seen the threads where people show off their screenshots. You may also have seen the similar threads where people upload photos of their offices, stuffed with Mac hardware. Why not put all of these photos and screenshots in the same place?

We have created that place: MyMacDesk.com. It’s the perfect place for posting images of your Mac. It doesn’t matter if it’s a screenshot, a photo or a drawing; they’re all welcome. But wait a minute, isn’t the site a little… empty?

Yes, it is. We just launched this site today and are hoping that the Apple fan community will contribute and make the site a hit. I know you love those Mac pictures, no let’s make the largest collection on the internet. Why not?

We created the site and uploaded the very first image. I’m now passing the ball along to you. Spread the word and show us what you’ve got.

  1. I love the My Mac Desk idea, but I have a suggestion.
I’ve uploaded a pic of my desk, and I was about to upload a screenshot of my desktop, but I don’t have enough space left in my quota.
I understand that sites like these need to restrict people’s uploads, but there is an option to have the site look for the picture hosted elsewhere. Why not have the site link to the image from it’s original hosting, instead of copying it to the server for use here.
People will be able to use sites like Photo Bucket or their own webspace.
Of course, those who don’t have their own webspace could still use the upload feature – and they’d be able to have more space allocated to their account if people start using external hosting as an option.
    Just an idea :)

  2. About the quota, I actually didn’t even know about it. We’ve got plenty of space so I’ll get right on it. :D EDIT: Issue resolved, 20 MB should do it.)

Nice to get feedback from you and external hosting is an excellent idea to reduce server loads. This site and MyMacDesk are both on the same server so it would be a good thing.

Thank you. Now let’s get some more people over there. :)

  3. Perfect, 20MB should be plenty, I’ll go post some more stuff :)

  4. Hmm.. it’s still telling me I only have 1024 Kb in the quota.. Is there something I have to do to extend to the 20MB?

  5. Looking into it right now, thank you for telling me.

  6. Finally. It should be working now. I had to modify the PHP and change the database manually for some reason…
