iCon, Steve Jobs, The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business
Have you ever read a biography? I hadn’t, but this book opened my mind. I remember lying in bed at night reading the introduction. I have no patience at all and I hate introductions. Even so, this one rendered me speechless.
The book started off by describing one of the greatest moments in Steve’s life. I was hooked. The introduction was deep and I felt like I could in some way connect with the story. It was truly touching and from that moment on, I had serious problems putting the book down.
It started by describing the beginning; Steve’s childhood and the characteristics that led to his success and the creation of the greatest technology company in the world. Everything from his problems in school to his spiritual trip to India is described vividly.
What the book focuses on is the development of Steve’s personality as he experiences the challenges and changes in his life. His personality seems fascinating and complicated, but it can also be very simple depending on how you look at it. This book does a very good job at telling his hard-to-tell stories.
The book is by no means a glorification of Steve. Sometimes it actually seems like the opposite; as if the author dislikes him. From time to time, Steve is criticized for the actions he has taken in the past and the way he went about things. But still…
As the fantastic moments of his life comes along, the author describes Steve as the talent he is. This makes the book a very pleasant and satisfying mix of criticism and praise, about one of the greatest men in history. My conclusion follows.
I might be subjective (as an Apple fan boy) but this is the best book I have ever read. Steve Jobs character is deeply fascinating and the story of how he has matured is equally amazing. The book describes Steve Jobs as what he is, and it does so in a very interesting way.
By the age of 25, Steve Jobs had achieved more than most people do in a lifetime. 25 years later, he is an icon that has reshaped not one, but three industries. In my world, Steve Jobs is a legend.
This book opened my mind and changed my life.
Rating: 5 apples out of 5. Insanely great!

Yes! I listened to this on CD and was also compelled to blog about it. I also posted the video of his commencement speech at Stanford that really shows the man behind this great story.
